Puntland authorities received 51 people arriving from Yemen at Bosaso port on October 21, including Somali returnees and Yemeni refugees. Horseed Media and Puntland Post reported that the group was met by officials working on reception and migration assistance.

The arrivals were transferred to the reception office of Puntland’s Interior Ministry for registration, assessment of their needs and assistance. That process follows the sea crossing with arrangements for people whose nationality and circumstances differ: some are returning to Somalia, while others have fled their own country.

The reception adds another movement towards Puntland to the journeys across the Gulf of Aden as fighting continues in Yemen. Bosaso’s role extends from the port to the services needed after disembarkation, including identifying arrivals and organising immediate support.

The October 21 group is a separate arrival from the earlier return movements covered by PUNT NEWS. Its completed reception gives the continuing migration story a new local event, with the next stage taking place through the ministry’s registration and assistance arrangements.
